You may have noticed in our online store that we offer refurbished phones for sale, we felt that it would be best to give a little insight to what it means for a phone to be refurbished by Business Technology Resale. Not all "refurbished" are created equal, and not all phones can be refurbished in the same way,
In the past, business telephones had a much longer lifecycle, this would allow companies to invest the resources to create mold for aftermarket parts as well as aftermarket plastics. As a result, if a phone was scratched or scuffed, the phone could have the plastic casing swapped out, and the refurbished phone could easily appear new. In recent years this has changed, the short life cycle of phones have removed the incentive for companies to invest in aftermarket plastics for phones. Although replacement plastics are still available for some phones, for many of the newer models, that is not an option. So this brings us back to the question what is a BTResale Refurbished Phone, and what is our process. The first step in our process is to test all the phones we receive. Based on our experience and the large volume of equipment we receive, we have gained valuable knowledge in what defects are common to specific phone models. Some phones with minor defects, we repair in house, other phones that are not worth repairing are sent to a recycler. The next step is that we reset them to manufacturer defaults. This leaves the last step in the refurbishing process which is the physical condition of the phones. All phones are then thoroughly sanitized and cleaned. This leaves us with phones that have scratches or scuffs or other physical imperfections. For these phones we have a unique process to restore the phones. We utilize a multi step process involving multiple buffing materials, 2 different types of plastic refinishing compounds, and various cleaning and polishing cloths We then professionally pack our phones with new handset cords and Cat5e cables and they are ready to ship to our customers. The end result is a phone that is in excellent working and physical condition. While the phones may not appear completely new as there maybe slight imperfections upon close examination. We are willing to put our phones up against any other refurbished phones in the industry, and feel confident we would come out on top. So what happens to the phones that we can't restore adequately? Stay tuned for a future post and keep your eye out for Grade "B" phones that will be making an appearance in the BTResale online store
